DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Shotgun Overview\nPrerequisites: Safe firearms handling. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds of birdshot\, 20 rounds of slug\, and 20 rounds of #00 buckshot. \nShotgun Requirements: Single-shot\, double-barrel\, semi-automatic (preferable) or pump-action. If you have any questions concerning the suitability of your shotgun for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Equipment: Plan to bring the following: \n\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nsling for your shotgun\ndump pouch\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Attendees will experience shooting at various distances and learn how to employ the shotgun in a defensive role. This clinic will focus on short range close quarter engagement. Topics covered include: \n\nRange rules and safety\nShotgun action types\nSling carry methods\nAmmo carry methods\nAmmo selection\nLoading methods\nReady positions\nShooting from the shoulder\nShooting from retention\nShotgun pattern\nShooting on the move\nShotgun and kit setup\nDevelop principles for engaging multiple targets with speed and accuracy\nEffectively apply decision making skills to transition from near to far targets\nAdapt principles for engaging multiple targets from behind cover at various distances\nEngaging at maximum effective range\n\nAdditional Questions?\nJohn is available at the email address below to answer questions both before and after the course.
