DESCRIPTION:Marty Brown Memorial Open Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Open™ event honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017. You can read more about Marty as well as Ovarian Cancer Connection on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \n50% of ticket revenue (after deduction of range fees and lunch costs) will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Connection to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. Instruction will include classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nRifle parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nNatural Point of Aim\nShooting from the prone\, standing and sitting/kneeling positions to include use of the sling\nIntroduction to Sight Adjustments and basic calculation of minutes of angle\n25 Yard “Morgan’s 13” Classifier\n25 Yard Rifle Qualifier\n\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds rifle ammunition. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in your preferred caliber. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 125 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle (per Erie County Conservation League range rules)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. SUMMARY:Intermediate Pistol – Two Day (Milan\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who’ve taken an entry-level class already and who are familiar with the safe handling and operation of a pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Basic Pistol course which has a slower pace. \nYouth 14 – 18 must be accompanied by parent for both days.  Youth under 14 years of age can contact Event Director for evaluation of attendance.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 500-700 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of 10 round or more round capacity (extra 10 round recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nRequired Equipment: Plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your pistol\nminimum of two magazines for your pistol (10-round capacity minimum\, extra magazines recommended)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\nlunch (there are no restaurants sufficiently close to the range)\n\nWe will not be drawing from the holster in this class and we will run a “cold range.” You will not need a holster to participate in the class activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray (event is outdoors)\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. SUMMARY:Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) – One Day (Marion\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested — Rifle 125 or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, or if you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and sling usage\, you will be frustrated at Rifle 262. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed. Rifle 223 (Carbine) is not required. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 150 to 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in a centerfire caliber of your preference (we will be shooting at distances beyond the effective range of most rimfire calibers). \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds or 200 yds preferred\, but any known zero will work).  At the very least\, bore sight your AR-platform or bolt action rifle by pulling the bolt and aligning the sighting system with the bore at a mark 25 yards away.  If you are not zeroed\, we will make an attempt to get you there but a good zero will facilitate your learning. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 262 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nsling for your rifle (while a US GI sling will work perfectly well for this event\, many prefer a more easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Rifle 262 picks up where the introductory Rifle 125 clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship\, learn to apply their skills out to the rifleman’s quarter-mile. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle — and themselves. \nField Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges\, with a focus on the “Rifleman’s quarter-mile:” 100-400 yards. This class is named for the “MK262” ammunition used by designated marksmen\, but you can be successful at landing hits with ball ammunition and a standard rifle. Students will learn: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculation\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection for shooting to known distances\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will be able to challenge the Qualification Test\, Battle Rattle\, and/or Field Shoot at actual distance; exact events may vary by venue and class.\n\nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Saturday night. Participants will have access to the club house for restrooms and limited kitchen support for dinner on Saturday night.
