SUMMARY:Rimfire Only Basic Rifle - One Day (Laramie\, WY)
DESCRIPTION:This event is .22LR ONLY; please leave your centerfire rifle at home (your wallet will thank you!) All participants MUST register online—no walk-ons are permitted \nRifle 125 (Basic Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 125 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nyour rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY – LOANER RIFLES ARE NOT AVAILABLE at this event\nsling for your rifle (a 1¼” US GI sling\, Magpul RLS\, “Ching”\, or M-1907 slings are strongly preferred as our instruction will be specific to these sling types; SOME loaner slings MAY be available at the event). Talon makes high-quality sling swivels (inch and quarter) that are comparable in price to their more cheaply made counterparts\nat least two magazines for your rifle\, 8 (10 round) magazines are recommended\na way to take notes; given the fact that we work thru all-weather “Rite In The Rain” pads are a good option\, as are spiral bound 3″x5″ cards found inexpensively at department stores when carried in baggies. Also\, bring pencils/pens. Remember the “winner” is not the shooter who gets the highest score\, but the shooter who brings home the most information and practices!\nhearing protection; recommend having both multiple sets of foam earplugs and headset type hearing protection on hand\neye protection; clear or amber lenses recommended for peep sights and overcast weather\, dark lenses for sunny and snowy weather\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal); minimum 2 gallons per day\, please. Nalgene-type water bottles refilled from bulk water work better and create less trash than disposable water bottles; Camelback-type hydration pouches are discouraged in below-freezing weather; big insulated sippy-cups with your favorite (non-coffee) hot beverage are also encouraged\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose-fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)). Long underwear with layers over it protecting from cold and wind is a smart way to go. Safety colors are always a plus. Cold-weather boots preferred; no sneakers/sandals/open-toe shoes.\nshooting mat\, foam camping pad\, carpet remnant\, or similar; nothing inflatable. Some loaners may be available first-come first-served; please call to reserve\nkneepads\, preferably with a plastic cap\nsome kind of camp/folding chair is a must\nwe have a working lunch; please bring something shelf-stable (bars/cans/pouches; or in a sealed container) and not too heavy. Snacks (granola bars\, etc are better than loose chips-type) are also good to have\nmagic marker; contractor-grade Sharpie preferred\nknowledge to service and safely operate YOUR rifle\nziplock baggies of all sizes are handy for waterproofing ammo/gear\, and a MUST for packing out your trash\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition is of the same type (i.e. same weight\, type\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Standard velocity (approximately 1150fps) round nose 40gr (e.g.\, CCI Standard Velocity) target ammo often brings the best results. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. \nPlease have your rifle ready to go for this shoot with everything (sights/scopes/slings) attached. We are NOT gunsmiths/armorers\, and cannot steal time from your fellow shooters to mess with your rifle. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\ntarps make picking up brass easier\nTech Sights makes a GI-style peep sight far superior to stock iron sights for target shooting if your eyes are young enough to take advantage. Optics are a must for most of us old farts; A&A Optics is a great place to go if you have questions. Red/green/etc dot scopes are NOT recommended as the dot is usually larger than the target\, obscuring it\nelbow pads\ncleaning supplies (bore snake\, etc) are always smart to have\nwhite trash bag or white towel (cover your rifle to protect from rain/sun)\nin an event that challenges both shooter and rifle\, it never hurts to bring a spare rifle\n\nLoaner Firearms: NOT AVAILABLE at this event \nOverview: This is our signature offering\, based on traditional American riflecraft that teaches “Hits Count!” It is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels. This course lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a variety of practical field positions. Rifle 125 includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nRifle parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nNatural Point of Aim\nShooting from the prone\, standing\, and sitting/kneeling positions to include use of the sling\nIntroduction to Sight Adjustments and basic calculation of minutes of angle\n25 Yard “Morgan’s 13” Classifier\n25 Yard Rifle Qualifier

You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury main gate to access the military side of the base. When asked\, tell gate security that you are there for the Revere’s Riders event along with any other information gate security requests. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. Range Control is reached by continuing south on the entrance road (Eggleston Street). Range Control will be on your left just before County Road 900 South. Himsel Airfield will be on your right just beyond the intersection of Eggleston Street and CR 900 S. \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian lodging is available on base for those who wish to stay overnight. Standard rooms with shared bathroom are $43/night and Deluxe rooms with private bath are $58/night. For reservations\, call the Camp Atterbury Lodging Office at 812-526-1128. Let them know that you are with Revere’s Riders. \nEvent Sponsors\n\n\n \n  \n\n3M Peltor has graciously provided Revere’s Riders with Peltor LiteCom Plus communications headsets for use at this event. These headsets incorporate radios allowing wearers to communicate with each other via their headsets. Extremely convenient for ranges where the target line is manned like Camp Atterbury. \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Galco Holsters\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Timber Creek Outdoors\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n 3M/Peltor\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Meprolight\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Voodoo Tactical\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Kahr Arms\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Criterion Barrels\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n HIVIZ Shooting Systems\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Daniel Defense\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Briley\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Glock\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Eva-Dry\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Magnetospeed\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n XS Sights\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Schmid Inside\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n 101 Tech USA\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Palmetto State Armory\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n UM Tactical\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Premier Arms\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Timney Triggers\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Vortex Optics\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Kestrel Meters\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Crossbreed Holsters\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Samson Manufacturing

SUMMARY:Defensive Pistol - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Defensive Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Intro to Defensive Pistol or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Defensive Pistol begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. From there\, the course focuses on the mechanics of defensive pistol shooting. Topics covered include the following: \n\nreview of reloading (administrative\, tactical\, emergency)\, draw stroke\, grip\, etc.\none-hand up drills\ndiscussion of shooting on the move\n\nretrograde\, forward\, transverse\nshooting on the move drills\n\n\ndiscussion of shooting positions\n\nprone\, kneeling\, urban prone\, supine\nshooting from positions\n\n\ndiscussion of the use of concealment and cover\n\nbox drill\n\n\ndiscussion of multiple target engagement\n\nEl Presidente/Mozambique drill\nFigure 8 drill\n\n\nadditional topics as class size and time permit\n\nAdditional Event Information\nMinors (under 18 years old) must be mature enough to follow the instruction and perform the drills as well as have a parent or legal guardian present during the event. \nAdditional Questions?\nJohn Viray is available at the email address below to answer questions both before and after the course.

Arlington\, at the time\, was known as Menotomy and more colonial militiamen were killed at Monotomy than any other place that day. \nBritish Redcoats were retreating back to Boston after being trounced at Concord’s North Bridge and Merriam’s Corner when they encountered heavy resistance along the road. They’d sent out flanking parties to clear the route and one of those parties captured Russell and several other militiamen in the open. \nHear what happened next as this exciting tale is woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events! \n \nAdditional Information: \nQuestions\, comments\, concerns\, etc.\, please contact the Event Director below.
