SUMMARY:Basic Rifle: Marksmanship Fundamentals -- Half Day (Audubon\, PA) Oct 18th 2026
DESCRIPTION:This event will be .22LR Rifle or Pistol Caliber Carbine ONLY (9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W\, .45 ACP); please do NOT bring rifles chambered in any other caliber. \nBasic Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Basic Rifle (aka\, Rifle 125). \nEstimated Ammunition Required: At least 300 rounds of  “standard velocity” ammunition. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle or pistol caliber carbine chambered in .22LR\, 9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Basic Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Shooting will be at 50 feet. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nsling for your rifle (a US GI sling is preferred; loaner slings are typically available at the event)\nshooting mat\, carpet remnant or similar (loaner shooting mats are typically available at the event)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nLoaner Firearms: the club has a number of loaner firearms suitable for use at this event (Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22s). Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nOverview: This is an abbreviated offering\, based on traditional American riflecraft that teaches “Hits Count!” It is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels. This course lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a variety of practical field positions. Basic Rifle includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. \nThis is a half day event focused on the marksmanship portions of the Basic Rifle curriculum.  Come back and have another chance to prove your expertise under the guidance of our instructors. \nStudents learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nRifle parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nNatural Point of Aim\nShooting from the prone\, standing and sitting/kneeling positions to include use of the sling\nIntroduction to Sight Adjustments and basic calculation of minutes of angle\n50 foot “Morgan’s 13” Classifier\n50 foot Rifle Qualifier\n\nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nHear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\n\nThis event is focused on marksmanship only.\nParticipants will go through the course of fire from the Basic Rifle offering\, in an abbreviated format focused on the shooting portions of the curriculum.\nThis is a half-day class\nThis event is open to the public and is appropriate for all ages that can safely handle a rifle.\nAll participants must have eye and ear protection.\nAll rifles must be cased unless on the firing line.\n\nAdditional Range Information\nThis event will be on the large INDOOR range.

SUMMARY:Revere's Riders Range Day 1\,000 yard Spooktacular!
DESCRIPTION:This Halloween Revere’s Riders is taking the fright out of shooting longer distances and putting the BOO! into BOOOOM!!! \nJoin us for a day of fellowship\, camaraderie\, candy\, and probably more than a few shenanigans on the 1\,000 yard rifle range at Mifflin County Sportsmen’s Association near Lewistown\, Pennsylvania. Lots of treats\, but no tricks. (Safety first!) \nOur current and past Presidents of the Board\, Treasurer\, and a few special guests – who are all seasoned long range shooters – will be on hand to help YOU get on target and walk your shots out to 1\,000 yards and beyond. We’ll place a full-size silhouette at 1\,040 yards to really test your reach! \nThere is no formal agenda for this range day. No class. No itinerary. Just the opportunity for you to come out and have fun! Use the day to gather the data you need. Zero your rifles. Build a dope card. Test out your new setup or hone your skills on an old one. We’ll be there to lend a hand and offer advice & coaching\, but the day is yours to accomplish your own goals. Shoot paper targets or steel. Use the club’s or bring your own. \nRemember those shenanigans mentioned a moment ago? \nWe’re going to have a couple full auto machine guns available and a big ol’ .50BMG as well. You feed ’em (ammo available for purchase on-site) and you can blast away! \nWe’ll also have more precision rigs suited to this style of shooting available for use. Want to borrow  a 6.5 Creedmoor chassis gun\, various scope with mil/moa\, bipods\, rest\, bag? No problem! \nAssorted ammo available for purchase so no need to stress ahead of time trying to load or locate the perfect match grade boxes if you don’t have them already. Shoot us a message and we’ll get you sorted out. \nThe best part of all this? It’s $20! \nReserve your spot today for only 20 bucks! Come for an hour or stay all day. Totally up to you! We’re an all-volunteer crew doing this to share our love of distance marksmanship (and shenanigans!) so the cost is just to help cover range rental fees for the day. Donations to Revere’s Riders much appreciated and accepted on-site or ahead of time through our website. Please bring cash to the event.  \nBring your own snacks & electrolytes (what plants crave) or feel free to make a Sheets run (and done) to get whatever you need. Primitive camping is available for $10/night but please coordinate ahead of time. \nLastly\, feel free to bring that box of shooting or outdoor stuff you haven’t used that’s been sitting in your man cave (or she shed) for a few years.
