SUMMARY:Intermediate Rifle - Rimfire Known Distance - One Day - Wheatfield\, Indiana
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Basic Rifle or similar class. \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as a Rimfire Known Distance clinic. Any safe\, SCOPED semi-automatic\, bolt or lever gun chambered in .22LR can be used. (Ruger 10/22\, Marlin 795\, Henry Golden Boy\, Savage Rascal\, etc.). Scopes should be 3-9×40 or larger. Fixed power scopes are fine. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 200 rounds\, ideally the same type. THIS IS A RIMFIRE ONLY EVENT! \nRequired Equipment: \n\nhearing protection\neye protection\nmagazines or speed loaders if needed\nbipod\, bag\, pack or field-expedient rest\nlunch (we’ll be staying on the range during lunch break)\nwater and something to replace electrolytes (what plants crave)\nsnacks\na way to take notes\n\nOptional Equipment: \n\nshooting mat\nrifle/optic manual(s)\nhat with a brim\nknee/elbow pads\nfolding chair\nsmall tool kit / cleaning kit\nstapler\n\nClinic Overview: Attendees will develop a working knowledge of the skills needed to zero a rifle\, trajectory\, internal/external ballistics\, “doping the sights” and how to make hits at known distances. Shots will be made at reduced distances of 25-100 yards\, effectively simulating the difficulty of shooting a centerfire rifle at 100-500 yards. \nAll firing in this course will be done from the prone position off a rest and within 100 yards. We will focus on attaining proper come-ups for your rifle/ammo combination. You will save time & money by learning the concepts at this course and then applying them when shooting bigger rifles at longer distances while hunting\, PRS-style shooting\, defensive carbine\, etc. \nThis class is not physically demanding but we will be walking 200yds and getting into and out of the prone position several times throughout the day. \nAttendees should arrive for registration at 8:45 am. Class starts promptly at 9:00!\nNOTE: This range is in the Central Time Zone!  \nTopics of instruction will include the following:\n\nField Shooting to Known Distances: Target Detection/Target Identification\nExternal Ballistics: Effects of Wind\, Temperature and Humidity\nBasic Ballistics Calculations: Using Minutes of Angle (MOA) or Milliradians (MRAD/mils)\nRange Estimation: Field-Expedient methods of determining Range\nData Collection: How to set up a “Dope Book”\n\nShots that Changed History!\nFrom the involvement of Daniel Morgan’s men at the siege of Boston in 1775 to the pivotal shots made by Timothy Murphy at the battle of Yorktown in 1781\, Colonial Marksmen made shots that shifted the course of the American Revolutionary War and\, ultimately\, changed the course of world history! \nHear the tale of these shots – made using the same skills learned in this clinic – woven throughout the day’s course of instruction.

SUMMARY:Intermediate Rifle (KD) – Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Rifle (KD) Overview\nThis is a 2-day\, Intermediate Rifle (AKA: Known Distance or “KD”) event. The event is designed to give attendees the opportunity to stretch their skills to actual distances out to 600 yards. The “course of fire/instruction” is designed for centerfire rifles with slings.  Open sights\, red dots or scopes welcome. Attendees will shoot from the standard field positions of prone\, seated/kneeling\, and standing at ranges from 100 to 400 yards. On Sunday we will provide the opportunity to shoot out to 600 yds. This is perfect timing for final prep for the National Matches at Camp Perry.  Got a new match load you want to test at distance? This event is for you.  Have you just added a new scope to your AR? This event is for you. Or\, if you just want to really learn one of your rifle/scope/ammo combinations?  This is your event. Come join us. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — Revere’s Basic Rifle event or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA rifle events. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, or if you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and sling usage\, you will be frustrated at this event. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 150 to 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in a centerfire caliber of your preference (we will be shooting at distances beyond the effective range of most rimfire calibers). \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds\, 100 yd or 200 yds preferred\, but any known zero will work).  At the very least\, bore sight your AR-platform or other rifle at a mark 25 yards away.  If you are not zeroed\, we will make an attempt to get you there quickly but a good zero will facilitate your learning. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate KD equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\ncenterfire rifle of your choice\nsling for your rifle (the US GI sling will work perfectly for this event\, but if you bring another style\, it should be easily adjustable)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\, extras will make things easier\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\,\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or a spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch for both days (Note: range provides lunch for a donation on Sat)\nsnacks and energy bars\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Intermediate Rifle picks up where our Basic Rifle clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship at our Basic Rifle\, learn to apply their skills out to 400 yards\, the Marksman’s quarter-mile. Most importantly\, attendees will learn about your rifle\, your ammo\, and your skill level at real distances. \nIntermediate Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges. Students will learn: \n\nField shooting to known distances out to 400 yds to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculations\nCalculations of minutes of angle (MOA) changes needed for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nConsiderations for wind adjustments and up-hill/down-hill shooting\nData collection for shooting to known distances with your equipment\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will be able to challenge the Long Range Qualification Test and other Field Shooting challenges at actual distances; individual events may vary by venue and available distances.\n\nOn Sunday afternoon\, we will move targets out to 600 yds to give folks the opportunity to really “reach out and test” their skills. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 contains stories from the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThese exciting tales will be woven throughout the event. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee for non-Tusco members that is payable at the start of the event. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Friday and Saturday night. Participants will have access to the club house for restrooms and limited kitchen support for dinner on Saturday night.
