DESCRIPTION:Marty Brown Memorial Open Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Open™ event honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017. You can read more about Marty as well as Ovarian Cancer Connection on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \n50% of ticket revenue (after deduction of range fees and lunch costs) will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Connection to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. Details will be posted to the 2024 Marty Brown Memorial Open Ohio Rifle Swag Bags\, Give Aways\, Prizes\, Auctions page as they are finalized. \nSign up for our email newsletter using the form in the website footer to be notified of items as we receive them. \nEvent Overview\nThis event will follow the outline of Rifle 125\, our signature offering based on traditional American riflecraft that teaches “Hits Count!” This event is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels and lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a variety of practical field positions. Instruction will include classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nRifle parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nNatural Point of Aim\nShooting from the prone\, standing and sitting/kneeling positions to include use of the sling\nIntroduction to Sight Adjustments and basic calculation of minutes of angle\n25 Yard “Morgan’s 13” Classifier\n25 Yard Rifle Qualifier\n\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds rifle ammunition. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in your preferred caliber. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 125 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle (per Erie County Conservation League range rules)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. At some facilities\, it may be possible to move out to longer distances\, but a rimfire rifle should be just fine for all activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nsling for your rifle (a US GI sling is preferred; loaner slings are typically available at the event)\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\, carpet remnant or similar\nfolding chair\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nHear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. SUMMARY:Intermediate Pistol – Two Day (Milan\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who’ve taken an entry-level class already and who are familiar with the safe handling and operation of a pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Basic Pistol course which has a slower pace. \nYouth 14 – 18 must be accompanied by parent for both days.  Youth under 14 years of age can contact Event Director for evaluation of attendance.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 500-700 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of 10 round or more round capacity (extra 10 round recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nRequired Equipment: Plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your pistol\nminimum of two magazines for your pistol (10-round capacity minimum\, extra magazines recommended)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\nlunch (there are no restaurants sufficiently close to the range)\n\nWe will not be drawing from the holster in this class and we will run a “cold range.” You will not need a holster to participate in the class activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray (event is outdoors)\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Instruction includes classroom\, drills\, and range time all of which are designed to improve your abilities with a hand gun. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nPistol parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nProper two-hand\, strong hand\, and weak hand stance\, grip\, and trigger press\nNatural Point of Aim\nShot Group Analysis\nClearing Common Stoppages\nProgress checks throughout the event using multi-target Qualifiers.\n\nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nHear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War.
