SUMMARY:Intermediate Pistol — Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but we recommend that you attend our Basic Pistol offering prior to joining us for this event.  Intermediate Pistol is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to improve marksmanship fundamentals for our attendees. We suggest that you should have taken some type of entry-level class already and you should already be familiar with the safe handling and operation of your pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Basic Pistol course which has a slower pace. \nAttendees between ages 14-18 years must be accompanied by a parent for the entire event.  If under age of 14\, contact the Event Director to review their skills and get approval for their participation. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Please note: this event is limited to .22lr pistols only.  NO CENTERFIRE PISTOLS ARE ALLOWED. You will need about 300 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of 10 rounds or greater capacity (extra magazines recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile British retreat on”battle road” back to Boston. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nTime allowing\, there may be some informal “team challenges” on Sunday to spice up the day. You are responsible for bringing a lunch both days.  The range normally offers a lunch on Saturday for a donation.  It’s simple (burgers\, dogs\, chips\, cookies and a drink) but it can save you packing something. \nAdditional Range Information\nTusco Rifle Club allows our attendees to camp on site free of charge.  You can bring your camper (electric hook-up is available)\, pitch a tent\, or bring a cot and bunk in the main clubhouse with the instructors.  We have movie night on the big screen on Friday and Saturday evenings for “campers” so if you have a favorite DVD\, bring it.  We have separate quarters for the ladies and showers are available.  We will also have access to the club’s kitchen for meal prep for breakfast and dinner and the clubhouse is both heated and cooled so its an easy way to join us without the cost of a hotel and restaurant meals. \nAttendees will need a code for the entry gate to enter the property\, this will be provided prior to the event for attendees. \nThe club charges a $10 range fee for the event.  Please bring cash for this charge\, it will be collected at registration.

SUMMARY:Intermediate Rifle-Rimfire KD– Two Day (Milan\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This is a RIMFIRE-ONLY event; we will only allow rifles chambered in rimfire cartridges. Ballistics info provided will be focused solely on .22lr ammo. Please leave your centerfire rifle at home.  \nIntermediate Rifle-Rimfire KD Overview\nThis clinic is designed to challenge attendees to accurately shoot their 22lr rifles to known distances out to 200yds.  You will learn the trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics and field shooting challenges with the combination of your rifle and your .22lr ammo. This will be best achieved with a scoped rifle although open sights are certainly acceptable. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — RR Basic Rifle course or previous experience with similar programs such as  CMP’s Rimfire Sporter or other .22lr distance shooting programs. \nIf you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and the proper use of the GI loop sling\, you will be frustrated at this event. Position instructions and proper sling usage will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, velocity\, and manufacturer) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22lr (centerfire rifles will not be allowed). You can bring your semi-auto\, bolt or lever 22lr rifle for this event. \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds is a good starting point).  We will be sighting at each distance (50 yds \,100 yds\, 150 yds\, and 200 yds) on Saturday so you can learn your elevation adjustments. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship at 25 yards\, learn to apply their skills at greater distances. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle\, their ammo — and their skill level at real distances beyond 25 yards. \nThis “Rimfire-Only” Intermediate Rifle event is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets out to 200 yds with a .22lr rifle. We will review the basics of IMC\, the ballistics of the .22lr cartridge at various distances\, and other considerations for shooting your .22lr rifle past 25 yards. \nThis event is scheduled for November so the weather can be cold and potentially wet.  Please plan on dressing accordingly.  The firing line is covered but you need to prepare for bad weather as we post/pull targets down range. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee for non-members that is payable on the day of the event. DESCRIPTION:This event is .22LR ONLY; please leave your centerfire rifle at home (your wallet will thank you!) All participants MUST register online—no walk-ons are permitted \nBasic Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Basic Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nyour rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY– LOANER RIFLES ARE NOT AVAILABLE at this event\nsling for your rifle (a 1¼” US GI sling\, Magpul RLS\, “Ching”\, or M-1907 slings are strongly preferred as our instruction will be specific to these sling types; SOME loaner slings MAY be available at the event). Talon makes high-quality sling swivels (inch and quarter) that are comparable in price to their more cheaply made counterparts\nat least two magazines for your rifle\, 8 (10 round) magazines are recommended\na way to take notes; given the fact that we work thru all-weather “Rite In The Rain” pads are a good option\, as are spiral bound 3″x5″ cards found inexpensively at department stores when carried in baggies. Also\, bring pencils/pens. Remember the “winner” is not the shooter who gets the highest score\, but the shooter who brings home the most information and practices!\nhearing protection; recommend having both multiple sets of foam earplugs and headset type hearing protection on hand\neye protection; clear or amber lenses recommended for peep sights and overcast weather\, dark lenses for sunny and snowy weather\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal); minimum 2 gallons per day\, please. Nalgene-type water bottles refilled from bulk water work better and create less trash than disposable water bottles; Camelback-type hydration pouches are discouraged in below-freezing weather; big insulated sippy-cups with your favorite (non-coffee) hot beverage are also encouraged\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose-fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)). Long underwear with layers over it protecting from cold and wind is a smart way to go. Safety colors are always a plus. Cold-weather boots preferred; no sneakers/sandals/open-toe shoes.\nshooting mat\, foam camping pad\, carpet remnant\, or similar; nothing inflatable. Some loaners may be available first-come first-served; please call to reserve\nkneepads\, preferably with a plastic cap\nsome kind of camp/folding chair is a must\nwe have a working lunch; please bring something shelf-stable (bars/cans/pouches; or in a sealed container) and not too heavy. Snacks (granola bars\, etc are better than loose chips-type) are also good to have\nmagic marker; contractor-grade Sharpie preferred\nknowledge to service and safely operate YOUR rifle\nziplock baggies of all sizes are handy for waterproofing ammo/gear\, and a MUST for packing out your trash\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition is of the same type (i.e. same weight\, type\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Standard velocity (approximately 1150fps) round nose 40gr (e.g.\, CCI Standard Velocity) target ammo often brings the best results. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. \nPlease have your rifle ready to go for this shoot with everything (sights/scopes/slings) attached. We are NOT gunsmiths/armorers\, and cannot steal time from your fellow shooters to mess with your rifle. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\ntarps make picking up brass easier\nTech Sights makes a GI-style peep sight far superior to stock iron sights for target shooting if your eyes are young enough to take advantage. Optics are a must for most of us old farts; A&A Optics is a great place to go if you have questions. Red/green/etc dot scopes are NOT recommended as the dot is usually larger than the target\, obscuring it\nelbow pads\ncleaning supplies (bore snake\, etc) are always smart to have\nwhite trash bag or white towel (cover your rifle to protect from rain/sun)\nin an event that challenges both shooter and rifle\, it never hurts to bring a spare rifle\n\nLoaner Firearms: NOT AVAILABLE at this event \nOverview: This is our signature offering\, based on traditional American riflecraft that teaches “Hits Count!” It is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels. This course lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a variety of practical field positions. Basic Rifle includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. SUMMARY:Basic Pistol Skills Development Clinic – One Day (Milan\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This event will be OPEN TO PUBLIC & MEMBERS. Please bring your .22LR chambered pistol only; centerfire pistols NOT recommended for clinic.  \nMinors between the ages of 14-18 are welcome to attend but MUST be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the event. \nPistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who’ve taken an entry-level class already and who are familiar with the safe handling and operation of a pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Basic Pistol course which has a slower pace. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of ten or more round capacity (bringing additional magazines recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\n$10.00 per person range fee for non-members.  Please bring cash with you to cover this fee. \nMake sure to bring a lunch with you as there are no convenient options off the range for getting lunch in the time we have allotted. \n

SUMMARY:Field Rifle Rimfire-KD – Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This is a RIMFIRE-ONLY event; we will only allow rifles chambered in .22LR. Please leave your centerfire rifle at home. \nField Rifle Rimfire KD Overview\nThis clinic is designed to challenge attendees to accurately shoot their 22LR rifles to known distances out to 200yds.  You will learn the trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics and field shooting challenges with your combination of rifle and .22LR ammo. This will be best achieved with a scoped rifle although open sights are certainly acceptable. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — RR Basic Rifle course or previous experience with similar programs such as  CMP’s Rimfire Sporter or other .22LR distance shooting programs. \nIf you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and the proper use of the GI loop sling\, you will be frustrated at this event. Position instructions and proper sling usage will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, velocity\, and manufacturer) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR (centerfire rifles will not be allowed). It is best if this is a semi-auto rifle but bolt or lever rifles can be accommodated. \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds is a good starting point).  We will be sighting in at each distance on Saturday so you can learn your elevation adjustments for each known distance. Wind corrections will also be covered at the event. \nRequired Equipment: Please plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle\nsling for your rifle (the US GI sling will work perfectly for this event\, but if you bring another style\, it should be an easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines of ten (10) or more round capacity for your rifle (extras magazines are a good idea)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nweather appropriate clothing (February weather in Ohio can be anything)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: A Field Rifle event picks up where the Basic Rifle clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship at 25 yards\, learn to apply their skills at greater distances. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle\, their ammo — and their skill level at real distances beyond 25 yards. \nThis “Rimfire-Only” Field Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets out to 200 yds with a .22LR rifle. We will review the basics of IMC\, the ballistics of the .22LR cartridge at various distances\, and other considerations for shooting your .22LR rifle past 25 yards. \nThis event is scheduled for February so the weather will most likely be cold and potentially wet.  Please plan on dressing accordingly.  The firing line is covered but you need to prepare for bad weather as we post/pull targets down range. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. Please bring cash. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Friday and Saturday night if you want to challenge the elements.  If not\, participants also have the option to bunk in the main club house starting Friday evening at 6PM.
