SUMMARY:Intermediate Pistol — Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but we recommend that you attend our Basic Pistol offering prior to joining us for this event.  Intermediate Pistol is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to improve marksmanship fundamentals for our attendees. We suggest that you should have taken some type of entry-level class already and you should already be familiar with the safe handling and operation of your pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Basic Pistol course which has a slower pace. \nAttendees between ages 14-18 years must be accompanied by a parent for the entire event.  If under age of 14\, contact the Event Director to review their skills and get approval for their participation. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Please note: this event is limited to .22lr pistols only.  NO CENTERFIRE PISTOLS ARE ALLOWED. You will need about 300 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of 10 rounds or greater capacity (extra magazines recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least two magazines for your pistol\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nappropriate clothing.  This is an INDOOR event but choose appropriate clothing (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, and short or no sleeves are discouraged as hot brass will be flying from your neighbor and it can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nWe will not be drawing from the holster in this class and we will run a “cold range.” You will not need a holster to participate in event activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your pistol\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nOverview: This course\, based on traditional American service pistol fundamentals is based on a “Hits Count” system. This course covers a  sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a practical stance. Intermediate Pistol includes classroom and range time with the goal to improve your pistol marksmanship skills. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nPistol parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nTwo Handed Grip & Stance: Isoceles and Weaver\, benchrest\, and shooting from low ready positions.\nNatural Point of Aim\nShot Group Analysis\nClearing Common Stoppages\nWhittemore’s Stand Pistol Qualifier\nClassic WW2 Pistol Qualification Test (optional)\n\nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nDuring the event breaks\, we will share the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile British retreat on”battle road” back to Boston. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nTime allowing\, there may be some informal “team challenges” on Sunday to spice up the day. You are responsible for bringing a lunch both days.  The range normally offers a lunch on Saturday for a donation.  It’s simple (burgers\, dogs\, chips\, cookies and a drink) but it can save you packing something. \nAdditional Range Information\nTusco Rifle Club allows our attendees to camp on site free of charge.  You can bring your camper (electric hook-up is available)\, pitch a tent\, or bring a cot and bunk in the main clubhouse with the instructors.  We have movie night on the big screen on Friday and Saturday evenings for “campers” so if you have a favorite DVD\, bring it.  We have separate quarters for the ladies and showers are available.  We will also have access to the club’s kitchen for meal prep for breakfast and dinner and the clubhouse is both heated and cooled so its an easy way to join us without the cost of a hotel and restaurant meals. \nAttendees will need a code for the entry gate to enter the property\, this will be provided prior to the event for attendees. \nThe club charges a $10 range fee for the event.  Please bring cash for this charge\, it will be collected at registration.

It is the story of free people\, making hard choices. Most of all\, it is about America’s half-remembered heritage of collective action in the cause of freedom. When Paul Revere and his many friends alarmed the Middlesex countryside\, they were carrying that message for us.” \n\n

SUMMARY:Basic Low Light Pistol (Terre Haute\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS BY INVITATION ONLY. If after reading the event description you would like to participate\, please contact the Event Director to request an invitation. \nBasic Low Light Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Defensive Pistol or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nDue to the intrinsic risks associated with training in low-light conditions\, the Event Director will approve each attendee for this course. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 300-500 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nreliable\, high-intensity hand-held light (lanyard recommended)\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least FIVE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one\nconcealment garment\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ninert replica of your pistol (e.g.\, “Blue Gun” or similar that fits your holster)\nback-up light\nlow-intensity “task light” for navigation and checking targets\nweapon-mounted light\nspare batteries\nspare bulbs (if your light uses incandescent bulbs)\nseveral feet of 550 paracord to make a lanyard\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Basic Low Light Pistol is approximately four hours that offers an introduction to defensive handgun techniques applied to low light or total darkness situations. The class will focus on the use of modern\, high intensity flashlights and their applications to defensive use in conjunction with handguns. Topics will include acquisition of information\, use of handheld flashlights both with and without firearms\, use of weapon-mounted flashlights\, use of supplemental sighting devices (e.g. lasers)\, use of tritium night sights\, etc. \nAdditional Questions?\nJohn Viray is available at the email address below to answer questions both before and after the course.

This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. SUMMARY:Intermediate Rifle-Rimfire KD– Two Day (Milan\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This is a RIMFIRE-ONLY event; we will only allow rifles chambered in rimfire cartridges. Ballistics info provided will be focused solely on .22lr ammo. Please leave your centerfire rifle at home.  \nIntermediate Rifle-Rimfire KD Overview\nThis clinic is designed to challenge attendees to accurately shoot their 22lr rifles to known distances out to 200yds.  You will learn the trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics and field shooting challenges with the combination of your rifle and your .22lr ammo. This will be best achieved with a scoped rifle although open sights are certainly acceptable. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — RR Basic Rifle course or previous experience with similar programs such as  CMP’s Rimfire Sporter or other .22lr distance shooting programs. \nIf you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and the proper use of the GI loop sling\, you will be frustrated at this event. Position instructions and proper sling usage will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, velocity\, and manufacturer) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22lr (centerfire rifles will not be allowed). You can bring your semi-auto\, bolt or lever 22lr rifle for this event. \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds is a good starting point).  We will be sighting at each distance (50 yds \,100 yds\, 150 yds\, and 200 yds) on Saturday so you can learn your elevation adjustments. Wind corrections will also be covered at the event. \nRequired Equipment: Please plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle\nsling for your rifle (the US GI sling will work perfectly for this event\, but if you bring another style\, it should be an easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines of ten (10) or more round capacity for your rifle (extras magazines are a good idea)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nweather appropriate clothing (February weather in Ohio can be anything)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: An Intermediate Rifle event picks up where the Basic Rifle clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship at 25 yards\, learn to apply their skills at greater distances. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle\, their ammo — and their skill level at real distances beyond 25 yards. \nThis “Rimfire-Only” Intermediate Rifle event is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets out to 200 yds with a .22lr rifle. We will review the basics of IMC\, the ballistics of the .22lr cartridge at various distances\, and other considerations for shooting your .22lr rifle past 25 yards. \nThis event is scheduled for November so the weather can be cold and potentially wet.  Please plan on dressing accordingly.  The firing line is covered but you need to prepare for bad weather as we post/pull targets down range. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee for non-members that is payable on the day of the event. Please bring cash. \nAdditional Range Information\nPlease plan to bring a lunch for both days.  Parking is available at the range.

The unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Access Policy \n\nCAMP ATTERBURY BASE ACCESS: the military is being more restrictive on who is allowed on-base and the credentials that need to be presented to gain access. You will need to have one of the following to gain base access (NO EXCEPTIONS): \n\nReal ID (like what is now required to board commercial aircraft)\nPassport\nMilitary ID (either current or retired)\n\nYour ID must be current (i.e.\, not expired). \n\nThis is federal\, not Camp Atterbury\, policy intended to increase the security of military bases in response to heightened threats posed in recent years. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury main gate to access the military side of the base. When asked\, tell gate security that you are there for the Revere’s Riders event along with any other information gate security requests. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. Range Control is reached by continuing south on the entrance road (Eggleston Street). Range Control will be on your left just before County Road 900 South. Himsel Airfield will be on your right just beyond the intersection of Eggleston Street and CR 900 S. \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian lodging is available on base in standard “chargeable transient quarters”. Standard rooms with shared bathroom are $43/night and Deluxe rooms with private bath are $58/night. For reservations\, call the Camp Atterbury Lodging Office at 812-526-1128. Let them know that you are with Revere’s Riders. \n \nEvent Sponsors\n\n\n \n  \n\n3M Peltor has graciously provided Revere’s Riders with Peltor LiteCom Plus communications headsets for use at this event. These headsets incorporate radios allowing wearers to communicate with each other via their headsets. Extremely convenient for ranges where the target line is manned like Camp Atterbury. \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Wulfy’s Laser Works\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Voodoo Tactical\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Gun Storage Solutions\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Crossbreed Holsters\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Timber Creek Outdoors\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Vortex Optics\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n HIVIZ Shooting Systems\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n KelTec\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Trijicon\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Meprolight\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n XS Sights\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Schmid Inside\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Palmetto State Armory\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Glock\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n 3M/Peltor\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Geissele\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Daisy\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Wilson Combat\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n EOTECH\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Stag Arms\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Tech-Sights\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Elite Tactical Systems\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Criterion Barrels\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n CMC Triggers\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Timney Triggers\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Radian Weapons\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Holosun\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Elite Survival Systems\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Magnetospeed\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n LWRC International\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Kestrel Meters\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n TANDEMKROSS\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n CVA\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Eva-Dry\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Faxon Firearms

SUMMARY:Rimfire Only Basic Rifle - One Day (Laramie\, WY)
DESCRIPTION:This event is .22LR ONLY; please leave your centerfire rifle at home (your wallet will thank you!) All participants MUST register online—no walk-ons are permitted \nBasic Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Basic Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nyour rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY– LOANER RIFLES ARE NOT AVAILABLE at this event\nsling for your rifle (a 1¼” US GI sling\, Magpul RLS\, “Ching”\, or M-1907 slings are strongly preferred as our instruction will be specific to these sling types; SOME loaner slings MAY be available at the event). Talon makes high-quality sling swivels (inch and quarter) that are comparable in price to their more cheaply made counterparts\nat least two magazines for your rifle\, 8 (10 round) magazines are recommended\na way to take notes; given the fact that we work thru all-weather “Rite In The Rain” pads are a good option\, as are spiral bound 3″x5″ cards found inexpensively at department stores when carried in baggies. Also\, bring pencils/pens. Remember the “winner” is not the shooter who gets the highest score\, but the shooter who brings home the most information and practices!\nhearing protection; recommend having both multiple sets of foam earplugs and headset type hearing protection on hand\neye protection; clear or amber lenses recommended for peep sights and overcast weather\, dark lenses for sunny and snowy weather\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal); minimum 2 gallons per day\, please. Nalgene-type water bottles refilled from bulk water work better and create less trash than disposable water bottles; Camelback-type hydration pouches are discouraged in below-freezing weather; big insulated sippy-cups with your favorite (non-coffee) hot beverage are also encouraged\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose-fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)). Long underwear with layers over it protecting from cold and wind is a smart way to go. Safety colors are always a plus. Cold-weather boots preferred; no sneakers/sandals/open-toe shoes.\nshooting mat\, foam camping pad\, carpet remnant\, or similar; nothing inflatable. Some loaners may be available first-come first-served; please call to reserve\nkneepads\, preferably with a plastic cap\nsome kind of camp/folding chair is a must\nwe have a working lunch; please bring something shelf-stable (bars/cans/pouches; or in a sealed container) and not too heavy. Snacks (granola bars\, etc are better than loose chips-type) are also good to have\nmagic marker; contractor-grade Sharpie preferred\nknowledge to service and safely operate YOUR rifle\nziplock baggies of all sizes are handy for waterproofing ammo/gear\, and a MUST for packing out your trash\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition is of the same type (i.e. same weight\, type\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Standard velocity (approximately 1150fps) round nose 40gr (e.g.\, CCI Standard Velocity) target ammo often brings the best results. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. \nPlease have your rifle ready to go for this shoot with everything (sights/scopes/slings) attached. We are NOT gunsmiths/armorers\, and cannot steal time from your fellow shooters to mess with your rifle. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\ntarps make picking up brass easier\nTech Sights makes a GI-style peep sight far superior to stock iron sights for target shooting if your eyes are young enough to take advantage. SUMMARY:Intermediate Defensive Rifle - One Day (Nashville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Defensive Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Basic Defensive Rifle or similar class. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nhit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling out to 50 yards\, and prone out to 100 yards\nhit a 3″×5″ index card from the standing position at 15 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: 250 rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Basic Defensive Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (4) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform. All firing in this course will be within 200 yards with a focus on the close quarters environment from contact to 50 yards. You will get a workout with all the skills needed to run the carbine from 7-100 yards. At some venues we may work out to the battlesight zero of your carbine (200-300 yards) but the focus is on short range marksmanship. Topics will include the following: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nCarbine parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting Fundamentals\n\nFiring Stance: Standing\nFive steps to firing each shot\nZero rifles as required\n\n\nSituational Awareness and Scanning\nRapid Magazine Changes (Tactical Reloads)\nShort Range Marksmanship Techniques\n\nTailoring the five steps to firing each shot to the close quarters environment\nControlled Pairs\nRecoil Management\n\n\nClearing Malfunctions/Stoppages\n\nEmergency/Speed Reloads\nFailure to Fire\nFailure to Eject\nDouble Feed\n\n\nSpecial Subjects (most one-day clinics will cover only a few of these — two day clinics will cover most or all)\n\nZeroing Carbines & Rifles\nCarbine Trajectory and Zero Issues\nBarricades\nMovement\nKneeling Position\nProne Position\nUse of the sling to support shooting stability\nNatural Point of Aim\nFiring from retention\nField Stripping & Cleaning the AR-15\n\n\nClassic WW2 Carbine Qualifier\nRevere’s Riders Carbine Skills Test\n\nThis class is moderately physically demanding. We will be on our feet much of the day\, moving between various positions on the range. We will be shooting from different positions throughout the day. \nPlease contact the event director if you intend to bring a different type of firearm other than an AR-15; we can probably accommodate learning on your preferred platform but want to ensure you will not be frustrated.

SUMMARY:Intermediate Rifle (KD) – Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Rifle (KD) Overview\nThis is a 2-day\, Intermediate Rifle (AKA: Known Distance or “KD”) event. The event is designed to give attendees the opportunity to stretch their skills to actual distances out to 400 yards. The “course of fire/instruction” is designed for centerfire rifles with slings.  Attendees will shoot from the standard field positions of prone\, seated/kneeling\, and standing. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — Revere’s Basic Rifle event or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA rifle events. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, or if you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and sling usage\, you will be frustrated at this event. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 150 to 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in a centerfire caliber of your preference (we will be shooting at distances beyond the effective range of most rimfire calibers). \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds or 200 yds preferred\, but any known zero will work).  At the very least\, bore sight your AR-platform or bolt rifle at a mark 25 yards away.  If you are not zeroed\, we will make an attempt to get you there quickly but a good zero will facilitate your learning. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate KD equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\ncenterfire rifle of your choice\nsling for your rifle (the US GI sling will work perfectly for this event\, but if you bring another style\, it should be easily adjustable)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\, extras will make things easier\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\,\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or a spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch for both days (Note: range provides lunch for a donation on Sat)\nsnacks and energy bars\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Intermediate Rifle picks up where our Basic Rifle clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship at our Basic Rifle\, learn to apply their skills out to 400 yards\, the Marksman’s quarter-mile. Most importantly\, attendees will learn about your rifle\, your ammo\, and your skill level at real distances. \nIntermediate Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges. Students will learn: \n\nField shooting to known distances out to 400 yds to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculations\nCalculations of minutes of angle (MOA) changes needed for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nConsiderations for wind adjustments and up-hill/down-hill shooting\nData collection for shooting to known distances with your equipment\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will be able to challenge the Long Range Qualification Test and other Field Shooting challenges at actual distances; individual events may vary by venue and available distances.\n\nOn Sunday afternoon\, we will move targets out to 600 yds to give folks the opportunity to really “reach out and test” their skills. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 contains stories from the first full year of the American war for independence. \nThses exciting tales will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable at the start of the event. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Friday and Saturday night. Participants will have access to the club house for restrooms and limited kitchen support for dinner on Saturday night.

SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Pistol - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Basic Pistol or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na rimfire pistol can be used for practice during some of the drills with a transition to your centerfire pistol to complete the drill (see the section on Rimfire Pistols below)\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \n\n\n\n\nRimfire Pistols: Due to the current cost and lack of availability of centerfire ammunition\, rimfire pistols will be allowed at this event subject to the following: \n\nsuitable centerfire/rimfire pistol combinations\, in order of preference\, are:\n\npairs of pistols such as the Glock 19 and Glock 44 that are nearly identical in size and function\npistols that are not as similar as the Glock 19/Glock 44 but still properly fit the same holster\nyour concealed carry centerfire pistol along with a .22LR conversion kit that is easy enough to swap in/out in a short period of time (<1 minute) without tools (e.g.\, a Glock 19 and the Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kit)\nseparate centerfire and rimfire pistols along with appropriate holsters for both (in a pinch\, you will be able to get by without a proper holster for your rimfire pistol)\n\n\nbring 250 rounds of quality rimfire ammunition (be picky about your rimfire ammunition as the cheap stuff is usually not very reliable; you can’t go wrong with CCI Mini-Mag\, Fiocchi\, or Federal)\nbring THREE (or more) magazines for your rimfire pistol (this is in addition to the THREE or more magazines for your centerfire pistol)\nappropriate holsters for both pistols (assuming your rimfire pistol does not properly fit your centerfire pistol holster)\n\nIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THIS COURSE WITH ONLY A RIMFIRE PISTOL! \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Basic Defensive Pistol begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. From there\, the course focuses on the mechanics of defensive pistol shooting.  Lecture topics include: “Why do we do this?”\, the physiological and psychological aspects of dynamic critical incidents for both the “good guy” and the “bad guy”\, firearms and ancillary equipment for defensive use among other topics. Range exercises build on each successive evolution ending the day with a simple drill that rehearses the physical and mental issues dealt with during the class. \nAt the end of the course\, you will have learned a simple drill that will help you internalize the basics of defensive pistol craft. \nAdditional Event Information\nMinors (under 18 years old) must be mature enough to follow the instruction and perform the drills as well as have a parent or legal guardian present during the event. \nAdditional Questions?\nJohn Viray is available at the email address below to answer questions both before and after the course.

SUMMARY:Advanced Defensive Rifle - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Defensive Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Revere’s Riders Intermediate Defensive Rifle or similar. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 500 rifle rounds/day; 250 pistol rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Rifle Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Basic Defensive Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (8) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\ntwo (2) mag pouches to hold your spare rifle magazines (chest rig or gun belt)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\n\nPistol Requirements: A safe\, modern semi-automatic pistol (Glock\, Smith & Wesson M&P\, etc.) is also required. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\na medium-frame or large-frame pistol (e.g.\, Glock 19/Glock 17 or similar)\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\nleave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Pistol Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side OWB holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; your holster should have sufficient retention to keep your firearm secure if you are rolling around on the ground.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\ntwo (2) mag pouches to hold your spare pistol magazines\n\nRequired Equipment: \n\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n50 lbs rucksack or backpack\n\nOptional Equipment: \n\nmagazine dump pouch\ncase for your rifle\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we will be shooting and moving)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nAdvanced Defensive Rifle Overview: This class is physically demanding. We will be on our feet much of the day\, moving between various positions on the range. We will be shooting from different positions throughout the day. In addition you will be required to carry weight between stations and fire carrying weight. \nYou need to hydrate several days prior to the event and arrive “sorted out” ready to train! \nThe training will be fast pasted safety is paramount you will need to be in the correct “mindset” for training. \nThis is the cumulative class for Defensive Rifle; you will put all of your skills to the test. We will present a subject\, conduct practice\, and execute a series of tasks in preparation for the qualifying events. \nThe qualifying events will not be given to you until we start. Bring your A game!!!! \n\nsome will be scored shooting events\nsome will be physical shooting events\nsome I might invent on the spot!\n\nThe goal is to push yourself safely to the limits of your ability! \nWin a Signed Copy of “Lone Survivor”\nRevere’s Riders includes relevant American history\, often from the Revolutionary War period\, as an added element to many of our firearms training events. For Advanced Defensive Rifle\, we will be giving away a SIGNED copy of Marcus Luttrell’s “Lone Survivor“. The book was later made into a film by the same name. \nMarcus is the recipient of the Navy Cross in recognition of his heroism in Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005. Marcus was the only survivor of SEAL Team 10’s engagement with a superior force in the remote Afghan mountains. Marcus nearly died from injuries sustained during the battle but was found and nursed back to health by Pashtun villagers in the area. His Seal Team 10 teammates were all killed during the fighting. \nMarcus returned home and founded the Lone Survivor Foundation in 2010 to “restore\, empower\, and renew hope for our wounded warriors and their families through health\, wellness\, and therapeutic support.” He later founded Team Never Quit whose mission “embodies the heart of a warrior\, men and women in all walks of life who have faced incredible hardship but have chosen not only to survive\, but to learn from the experience and make themselves and those around them stronger for it. Our commitment is to honor those who have fallen\, stand with those who have survived\, and share their stories that we might inspire others to Never Quit.”

SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Rifle/Intermediate Defensive Rifle - One Day/Two Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:This will be a back-to-back running of our Basic Defensive Rifle and Intermediate Defensive Rifle courses. Participants may choose to take one or both courses as their skills\, background\, and interests dictate. Please note the prerequisites for these courses as these courses are not appropriate for those new to firearms. \nNote that the overview for Basic Defensive Rifle appears first followed by the overview for Intermediate Defensive Rifle. \nBasic Defensive Rifle Overview\nSafety: As with all classes safety is non negotiable; we practice absolute muzzle discipline. This means you are aware of your muzzle at all times\, never “sweeping” anyone’s body parts. Serious breaches of safety may result in your being asked to leave the range with no refund of your ticket purchase.\nPrerequisites: Revere’s Riders Basic Rifle or similar class is strongly suggested. \nIf you have not attended Basic Rifle\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. You should be able to consistently hit a 3×5 index card at 15 yards while standing. You should be familiar with basic operation of your carbine. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at this class and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Basic Rifle clinic. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 400 rounds \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Basic Defensive Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (4) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\nmag pouches to hold your rifle magazines (chest rig or gun belt)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nBasic Defensive Rifle Overview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform. Topics will include the following: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nCarbine parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting Fundamentals\n\nFiring Stance: Standing\nFive steps to firing each shot\nZero rifles as required\n\n\nSituational Awareness and Scanning\nRapid Magazine Changes (Tactical Reloads)\nShort Range Marksmanship Techniques\n\nTailoring the five steps to firing each shot to the close quarters environment\nControlled Pairs\nRecoil Management\n\n\nClearing Malfunctions/Stoppages\n\nEmergency/Speed Reloads\nFailure to Fire\nFailure to Eject\nDouble Feed\n\n\nSpecial Subjects (most one-day clinics will cover only a few of these — two day clinics will cover most or all)\n\nZeroing Carbines & Rifles\nCarbine Trajectory and Zero Issues\nBarricades\nMovement\nKneeling Position\nProne Position\nUse of the sling to support shooting stability\nNatural Point of Aim\nFiring from retention\nField Stripping & Cleaning the AR-15\n\n\nClassic WW2 Carbine Qualifier\nRevere’s Riders Carbine Skills Test\n\nIntermediate Defensive Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Revere’s Riders Basic Defensive Rifle and Basic Pistol or similar classes are strongly suggested. \nIf you have not attended Basic Defensive Rifle\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. \nAdditional Event Information\nSome events may have special instructions. Be sure to include any full distance opportunities for two-day events here. \nAdditional Range Information\nAny additional range information not contained in the “venue” section…

SUMMARY:Intro to 3-Gun - Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Intro to 3-Gun Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds pistol\, 150 rounds rifle\, 50 rounds birdshot\, and 5 rounds shotgun slugs. \nFirearms Requirements:  Magazine-fed semi-automatic or bolt action rifle\, semi-automatic or revolver pistol and a semi-automatic or pump shotgun in good condition. \nRequired Equipment: Please plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for each of your firearms\nminimum two (2) magazines for your rifle and pistol\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\nlunch (there are no restaurants sufficiently close to the range but the range will offer lunch for a donation if you do not want to pack food)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nmagazine pouches for your rifle\, pistol and shotgun ammo\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nsun shade/pop-up canopy (we will be setting up down range without overhead cover)\nfolding chair\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview:  Intro to 3-GUN: \nThree-gun is a fast-paced shoot and move event using a rifle\, shotgun\, and pistol to engage various sized targets from 3 yards-300 yards. We will be on the 600 yard range\, setting our firing line up at the 300 yard line. Be prepared to stage your gear about 350yds away from the parking lot. \nShooters will engage multiple steel targets with their centerfire rifle with distances ranging from 50-300 yards. From there\, you will safe and ground your rifle and move over to your awaiting shotgun and engage a single silhouette target about 50 yards away with a slug. Then you will engage small reactive steel 5-15 yards away with birdshot. Once complete\, you will safe and ground your shotgun and move on to the pistol portion of the course. At the pistol stage you will engage cardboard silhouette targets from around a barricade using one hand only. Each cardboard target will be engaged twice (with only “hits” counting in the marked portion of the target). Be prepared to shoot both right and left-handed at ranges of 3-10 yards. You will then move on to a pair of Texas star steel reactive targets and a single silhouette with a gong flapper (only a hit on the flapper portion counts). \nYour round count for a perfect round will be: \n\n10 rounds rifle\n1 slug\n8 birdshot\n31 pistol\n\nSaturday will start with a safety briefing for the weekend.  Then we will provide an introduction to 3-gun events. This will include a review of the history of 3-gun\, overview of participation classes available and the related rules\, and how a typical event is organized. That will be followed with instructions on the firearms handling procedures you will need/use on the range and introductory tips on how to navigate the various stages.  Then we will move to the firing line and walk through the stages without firearms. Then we will shoot a live fire practice without time pressure.  Sunday will entail shooting the course for time as an actual event. You can expect to get multiple attempts at the course for time on Sunday. \nSpots are limited to 10 shooters to accommodate multiple runs for each shooter. There will be a range fee of $10 for the event. Please bring cash on Saturday for this fee.  We will start with registration/safety brief/walkthrough at 9:00am both days. A lunch will be available for donation both days. We will go until 3:30pm and then clean up. Help with clean-up will be greatly appreciated. All targets need returned to storage and all brass\, hulls\, and wads cleaned up from the range. \nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nDuring our breaks\, you will hear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 18 mile “battle road” as the British retreated back to Boston. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout both days of the event. \nAdditional Event Information\nThis is a two day event.  The club allows shooters to either tent camp onsite or bunk in the clubhouse for the weekend. Your event director and several of the instructors will be onsite for the entire weekend so you will have company if you choose to camp with us. If you do choose camp\, you will have access to the restrooms and the kitchen in the main clubhouse for the weekend. \nReminder; there will be a $10/person range fee for non-Tusco members for the weekend. Please bring cash with you to cover this fee.

SUMMARY:Intermediate Rifle (KD) – One Day (Marion\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Rifle (AKA: Known Distance) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested — Our Basic Rifle event or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, or if you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and sling usage\, you will be frustrated at our Field Rifle (KD). Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 150 to 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. At the very least\, bore sight your AR-platform or bolt action rifle by pulling the bolt and aligning the sighting system with the bore at a mark 25 yards away.  If you are not zeroed\, we will make an attempt to get you there but starting with a known zero will facilitate your learning. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Intermediate Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nsling for your rifle (while a US GI sling will work perfectly well for this event\, many prefer a more easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Intermediate Rifle picks up where the Basic Rifle clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship\, will learn to apply their new skills out to the rifleman’s quarter-mile. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle\, their ammo — and themselves. \nIntermediate Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges\, with a focus on the “Rifleman’s quarter-mile:” 100-400 yards. Students will learn: \n\nShooting to known distances from multiple field positions. Additionsl skills covered will include target detection\, target identification\, adjusting for wind\, and basic ballistics calculations\nCalculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection for shooting to known distances\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will be able to challenge the Qualification Test at actual distances; exact events may vary by venue and class.\n\nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Friday night for early arrivers. Participants will have access to the club house for restrooms and limited kitchen support for dinner on Friday night.
