Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. SUMMARY:Pistol 145 (Intro to Defensive Pistol) - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol 145 Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Pistol 100 or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 10 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na rimfire pistol can be used for practice during some of the drills with a transition to your centerfire pistol to complete the drill (see the section on Rimfire Pistols below)\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \n\n\n\n\nRimfire Pistols: Due to the current cost and lack of availability of centerfire ammunition\, rimfire pistols will be allowed at this event subject to the following: \n\nsuitable centerfire/rimfire pistol combinations\, in order of preference\, are:\n\npairs of pistols such as the Glock 19 and Glock 44 that are nearly identical in size and function\npistols that are not as similar as the Glock 19/Glock 44 but still properly fit the same holster\nyour concealed carry centerfire pistol along with a .22LR conversion kit that is easy enough to swap in/out in a short period of time (<1 minute) without tools (e.g.\, a Glock 19 and the Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kit)\nseparate centerfire and rimfire pistols along with appropriate holsters for both (in a pinch\, you will be able to get by without a proper holster for your rimfire pistol)\n\n\nbring 250 rounds of quality rimfire ammunition (be picky about your rimfire ammunition as the cheap stuff is usually not very reliable; you can’t go wrong with CCI Mini-Mag\, Fiocchi\, or Federal)\nbring THREE (or more) magazines for your rimfire pistol (this is in addition to the THREE or more magazines for your centerfire pistol)\nappropriate holsters for both pistols (assuming your rimfire pistol does not properly fit your centerfire pistol holster)\n\nIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THIS COURSE WITH ONLY A RIMFIRE PISTOL! \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Pistol 145 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Pistol 145 begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. The shoot will be held regardless of weather conditions as long as the range is accessible from Rogers Canyon Road. \nThe shoot will involve instruction in field firing (no benches or bipods; shooting will be in standing\, seated\, and prone positions with the sling only for support); the instruction will be based on skills taught by the US Military from the late 1800s until today by the Marine Corps. The skills taught are those used in NRA High Power or CMP Mid-Range competitions. \nAll levels of shooting skill are welcome\, from beginners to expert. Everyone benefits from review of fundamentals and coaching. Those with mobility issues who can see\, hear\, and comprehend are also more than welcome; we’ll work with all best as possible\, safety being the primary concern. Ages 6-116 are encouraged to participate. \nAn opportunity to qualify at 25yds will be offered towards the end of the day\, with targets sized to simulate 100 to 400yds used. Bringing a .22lr semi-automatic rifle with detachable box magazines of minimum 10 round capacity (optics or irons welcome) is recommended for those wishing to shoot a qualifying score\, but bring what you’ve got. The real focus of this shoot is education\, and improving the skills of the shooter\, and this can be accomplished with any rifle. \nThe “winner” is not the one with the highest score\, but the one who takes home the most information and then practices those skills. Those coming with a beginner mindset and notebook take home the most. \nRegistration will be online (reveresriders.org) with a substantial early-bird discount. Registration is also possible on-site for exact payment in cash\, no discounts. Fees will vary (youth discounts\, etc.) There will also be a $10 range fee (exact amount in cash\, please) payable on-site for all\, INCLUDING RANGE MEMBERS. \nPlease BRING a NEW\, UNWRAPPED TOY as a donation to Toys for Tots of Albany County. \nOther than bathrooms (in the clubhouse)\, plan on being OUTDOORS FOR THE ENTIRE (8-5) DAY. DESCRIPTION:This event will be .22LR Rifle or Pistol Caliber Carbine ONLY (9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W\, .45 ACP); please do NOT bring rifles chambered in any other caliber. \nRifle 125 (Basic Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 150-200 rounds. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle or pistol caliber carbine chambered in .22LR\, 9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThis event is open to the public and is appropriate for all ages that can safely handle a rifle. \nAll participants must have eye and ear protection. \nAll rifles must be cased unless on the firing line. \nAdditional Range Information\nThis event will be on the new INDOOR range. SUMMARY:Pistol 209 (Defensive Pistol) - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol 209 Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Pistol 145 or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 10 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Pistol 145 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Pistol 209 begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. If after reading the event description you would like to participate\, please contact the Event Director to request an invitation. \nMarty Brown Memorial Invitational Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017. A portion of match proceeds will be donated to Ovar’coming Together to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. You can read more about Marty as well as Ovar’coming Together on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match is an informal 3-position known distance match shot according to the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test. This is an invitational match and you must be invited to attend. Marksmen will receive an invitation by satisfying one of the following: \n\nshoot a score of Marksman or better on the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test (must be in the same calendar year as the Invitational)\nsatisfy the Match Director that you are proficient and safe enough to participate\n\nIf you believe you meet either of the above criteria and would like to participate\, please contact the Event Director using the email address below. \nNo formal instruction will be provided at this event; however\, many participants will be highly skilled rifle marksmen who are usually willing to help in any way they can provided doing so doesn’t detract from their own enjoyment or participation in the event. At present (July 2020)\, this includes the following: \n\nwearing a mask when indoors (masks will not be required outdoors)\nsubmitting to a screening questionnaire before being allowed on base\n\nWe will provide updated information regarding the US Army and Camp Atterbury policies regarding COVID-19 closer to the time of the event. \nCamp Atterbury and Afghan Refugees\nAs you may be aware from recent news coverage\, Camp Atterbury is now hosting several thousand Afghan refugees on base. This has dictated several changes to base policy including the following: \n\ncivilian on-base housing will NOT be available (it is being used to house additional military support personnel)\non-base driving routes are restricted (see cantonment map below for details)\nspeed limits will be subject to greater enforcement due to the presence of Afghan refugees (including children) not familiar with western style vehicular traffic:\n\n25mph maximum speed limit\n10mph speed limit when pedestrians are present\n\n\nphotography in the cantonment area is strictly prohibited; our understanding is that photography is still allowed on the firing ranges\n\nThe bottom line is that Camp Atterbury is much more of a “military base” than it was in the past due to the presence of the Afghan refugees. Please be aware of the above rules\, attempt to follow them to the best of your ability\, and be respectful to all persons on-base. \nAdditional Event Information\nTicket price includes all range fees. \nPre-registration is Required\nAll participants must purchase tickets by the DEADLINE of 5:00 PM on October 29\, 2021.  Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after this deadline.  The unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nIt is recommended that you do NOT inform base security that you have firearms in your vehicle unless specifically asked. It is also recommended that you wait until you are physically on the firing range to load your magazines to avoid any appearance of being “loaded and ready for action” while on-base. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury “delivery gate” to access the military side of the base (major construction is under way at the “main gate”). The “delivery gate” is at Schoolhouse Road to the west of the “main gate” and there is signage on Hospital Road to that effect. \nBase security is now being manned by US Army MPs and they should be treated with the utmost respect. Answer truthfully any questions you are asked; provide any and all identification or paperwork requested (make sure you have your drivers license and proof of insurance with you). \nWhen asked\, tell gate security that you are going to “Range Control”. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. \nThere are two acceptable routes to Range Control indicated in blue and red on the map below: \n \nThese routes avoid the cantonment areas where the Afghan refugees are housed. \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian on-base lodging is NOT available at this time. SUMMARY:Rimfire-Only Rifle 262  - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Save money and learn to shoot at distance with the pea shooter! This is a RIMFIRE-ONLY event; we will only allow rifles chambered in .22LR. Please leave your centerfire rifle at home. \nRimfire-Only Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) Overview\nThis clinic is designed to familiarize attendees with the basics of shooting known distance (“KD”) and to introduce the concepts of trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics and field shooting. This will be best achieved with a scoped rifle although open sights are acceptable. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — Rifle 125 or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, you will be frustrated at Rifle 262. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed. This event will be fired at reduced distances of 25-100 yards which effectively simulate the challenges of obtaining hits with a centerfire rifle at 100-400 yards. Single-shot\, bolt-action\, lever-action\, semi-auto\, etc.\, are all acceptable. As long as it’s a safe rifle chambered in .22LR you’re good to go! \nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but do not have a suitable rifle\, please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nScope Requirements: This event is designed for a scoped .22LR rifle though you may attend with other sights. Ideally\, a click-adjustable scope (either around 4× fixed magnification or 2-7×\, 3-9×\, etc. variable magnification will be ideal). Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nSummary: This Rimfire-Only Rifle 262 course picks up where the introductory Rifle 125 clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship\, learn to conceptualize and implement the fundamentals of field rifle marksmanship. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle — and themselves. \nField Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges out to 600 yards\, with a focus on the “sharpshooter’s quarter-mile:” 100-400 yards. This class is named for the “MK262” ammunition used by designated marksmen\, but you can be successful at landing hits with ball ammunition and a standard rifle. In this “rimfire-only” version of Rifle 262\, we will be simulating shooting with a centerfire rifle out to 100-400 yards by using a rimfire rifle at ranges of 25-100 yards. \nStudents will learn: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculation\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection for shooting to known distances\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will leave with the knowledge and ability to effectively shoot a .22LR to 250 yards!\n\n \n“Shots that Changed the History of the World”\nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s instructional events. SUMMARY:Pistol 145 (Intro to Defensive Pistol) - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol 145 Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Pistol 100 or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds/day. We have modified the course of fire for this course to minimize round count as much as possible. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \n\n\n\n\nRimfire Pistols: Due to the current cost and lack of availability of centerfire ammunition\, rimfire pistols will be allowed at this event subject to the following: \n\nsuitable centerfire/rimfire pistol combinations\, in order of preference\, are:\n\npairs of pistols such as the Glock 19 and Glock 44 that are nearly identical in size and function\npistols that are not as similar as the Glock 19/Glock 44 but still properly fit the same holster\nyour concealed carry centerfire pistol along with a .22LR conversion kit that is easy enough to swap in/out in a short period of time (<1 minute) without tools (e.g.\, a Glock 19 and the Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kit)\nseparate centerfire and rimfire pistols along with appropriate holsters for both (in a pinch\, you will be able to get by without a proper holster for your rimfire pistol)\n\n\nbring 250 rounds of quality rimfire ammunition (be picky about your rimfire ammunition as the cheap stuff is usually not very reliable; you can’t go wrong with CCI Mini-Mag\, Fiocchi\, or Federal)\nbring THREE (or more) magazines for your rimfire pistol (this is in addition to the THREE or more magazines for your centerfire pistol)\nappropriate holsters for both pistols (assuming your rimfire pistol does not properly fit your centerfire pistol holster)\n\nIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THIS COURSE WITH ONLY A RIMFIRE PISTOL! \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Pistol 145 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Pistol 145 begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. From there\, the course focuses on the mechanics of defensive pistol shooting.  Lecture topics include: “Why do we do this?”\, the physiological and psychological aspects of dynamic critical incidents for both the “good guy” and the “bad guy”\, firearms and ancillary equipment for defensive use among other topics. Range exercises build on each successive evolution ending the day with a simple drill that rehearses the physical and mental issues dealt with during the class. \nAt the end of the course\, you will have learned a simple drill that will help you internalize the basics of defensive pistol craft. \nAdditional Event Information\nMinors (under 18 years old) must be mature enough to follow the instruction and perform the drills as well as have a parent or legal guardian present during the event. \nAdditional Questions?\nThe Event Director\, Becki Gibson\, should be your first point of contact for any questions.
