SUMMARY:Basic Pistol - Two Day (Salem\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who are at least familiar with the safe handling and operation of their pistol. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 300 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of ten or more round capacity (bringing additional magazines recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nRequired Equipment: \n\nat least two magazines for your pistol\na case for your pistol\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\nlunch (the club will be offering limited options for purchase or you can pack your own)\n\nWe will not be drawing from the holster in this class\, and we will run a “cold range.” You will not need a holster to participate in class activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray (outdoor events only)\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nOverview: This course\, based on traditional American service pistol fundamentals that is based on a “Hits Count!” approach. This course lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a practical stance. Pistol Skills Development includes classroom\, drills and range time to improve your handgun skills. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nPistol parts\, operation & ammunition information\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nProper Two Hand\, Strong Hand\, Weak Hand\, Stance\, Grip & Trigger Press.\nNatural Point of Aim\nShot Group Analysis\nProgress checks throughout the event using a multi-target qualifier\n\nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nDuring the event breaks\, you will hear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile British retreat to Boston on “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\n$10.00 per person range fee for non-Salem Hunt Club members.  Please bring cash with you to cover this fee. \nMake sure to bring a lunch with you as there are no convenient options off the range for getting lunch in the time we have allotted.

SUMMARY:Basic Rifle: Fundamentals - One Day (Audubon\, PA) September 20th 2026
DESCRIPTION:This event will be .22LR Rifle or Pistol Caliber Carbine ONLY (9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W\, .45 ACP); please do NOT bring rifles chambered in any other caliber. \nBasic Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 150-200 rounds. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle or pistol caliber carbine chambered in .22LR\, 9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Basic Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\nAmmunition – Please bring at least 300 rounds of standard velocity ammo\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Shooting will be at 50 feet. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nsling for your rifle (a US GI sling is preferred; loaner slings are typically available at the event)\nshooting mat\, carpet remnant or similar (loaner shooting mats are typically available at the event)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nLoaner Firearms: the club has a number of loaner firearms suitable for use at this event (Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22s).
