SUMMARY:Basic Pistol - One Day (Milan\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who are at least familiar with the safe handling and operation of their pistol. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 300 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of ten or more round capacity (bringing additional magazines recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nRequired Equipment: \n\nat least two magazines for your pistol\na case for your pistol\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\nlunch (there are no restaurants sufficiently close to the range)\n\nWe will not be drawing from the holster in this class\, and we will run a “cold range.” You will not need a holster to participate in class activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray (outdoor events only)\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nOverview: This course\, based on traditional American service pistol fundamentals that is based on a “Hits Count!” approach. This course lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a practical stance. Pistol Skills Development includes classroom\, drills and range time to improve your handgun skills. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nPistol parts\, operation & ammunition information\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nProper Two Hand\, Strong Hand\, Weak Hand\, Stance\, Grip & Trigger Press.\nNatural Point of Aim\nShot Group Analysis\nProgress checks throughout the event using a multi-target qualifier\n\nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nDuring the event breaks\, you will hear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile British retreat to Boston on “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\n$10.00 per person range fee for non-ECCL members.  Please bring cash with you to cover this fee. \nMake sure to bring a lunch with you as there are no convenient options off the range for getting lunch in the time we have allotted.

SUMMARY:BSA Rifle Marksmanship Merit Badge - Private - One-Day (Curtice\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This is a PRIVATE – Invitation only event open to select BSA troops and their parents. It is designed to give participants the chance for the parent and scout to shoot together\, learn rifle marksmanship fundamentals and for the Scout to earn their Rifle merit badge. The course of instruction and course of fire are compliant with BSA regulations. Instruction and range operations are led by NRA Certified Rifle Instructors who provide a safe learning experience for you and your Scout.  \nPrerequisites: Scoutmaster permission and BSA Rifle marksmanship merit badge workbook – see link ( BSA Rifle Shooting merit badge workbook ) \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 100 rounds for the day. \nRifle Requirements:    Scouts are required to use a magazine fed bolt action .22 rifle. Adults will be equipped with .22 rifles. \n                       Rifles will be supplied\, the range is making ammunition available for purchase ( $4.00 for 50 rounds) \nIf you have a .22lr chambered rifle you wish to bring\, please contact the Event Director to confirm that it will be appropriate for the event. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Basic Rifle equipment : \n\nsling for your rifle (a US GI slingis strongly preferred as our instruction will be specific to this sling; loaner slings are typically available at the event)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event.
