DESCRIPTION:Event Overview: Two separate classes! Take the class best suited to your needs or sign up for both to save a bit of money. FREE FOR KIDS WITH A PAYING ADULT!!! \n\nBasic Land Navigation – Introduction to Orienteering: \nOn Saturday we’ll spend a few hours in the classroom covering the basics of land navigation and orienteering: how to read a map and use a compass to find your way\, plus a whole bunch of background information on the history of cartography\, navigating and alternative methods to avoid getting lost! \nAfter lunch we’ll head out to a local park and use our newly learned skills to find several pre-positioned items. It’ll be a fun\, family-friendly scavenger hunt to instill confidence and reinforce analog methods of getting around. \nIntermediate Land Navigation – Advantageous Use of Terrain for the Marksman:\nSunday’s Intermediate class will focus on applying military fundamentals to the world around us. We’ll dive deeper into analyzing maps and references available to civilians through open sources. Morning classroom instruction followed by a strategic planning exercise. \nAfter lunch\, attendees will participate in a guided walkthrough of a hilly and wooded local park doing tactical terrain identification and analysis. \n  \nRequired Equipment: Please plan to bring the following: \n\nClothing appropriate for the weather and comfortable shoes or boots\nPen/Pencil\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nCompass (If you have a compass\, bring it! But don’t feel like you have to buy one for class.)\nMaps (Feel free to bring maps from your area to compare & discuss!)\nMap Case\, Folder/Binder\, Gallon-size Plastic Zipper Bags (To keep maps dry.)\nProtractor\nRuler or Tape Measure\nPencil\, Grease Pencil\, Colored Pencils\, Markers (Fine tip preferred.)\nSunscreen and/or Bug spray\nChange of clothing/footwear. Towel. Rain gear if needed.\nSnacks/Drinks (A way to replace electrolytes… what plants crave!)\n\nEach attendee will receive a map & compass. Lebanon is described as\, “historic charm\, reimagined.” \nWe’ll be meeting each morning at 9:ooam at The Lebanon Brewing Company\, located at 20 West Silver St.\, Lebanon\, Ohio 45036 for the classroom portion. Parks are located just a few blocks away and we’ll be walking to them each afternoon. Free parking is available in the bank parking lot behind the brewery (ignore the no parking signs\, it’s the weekend!) and in public lots throughout Lebanon. \nLunch is available for purchase on site each day at The LBC’s Ladder 41 Kitchen or attendees may leave to enjoy lunch elsewhere. Class will reconvene at 1:00pm for the field exercises. \nLebanon is home to several boutiques\, antique shops and ice cream purveyors right downtown as well as Ohio’s oldest continually operated inn\, The Golden Lamb. \nAccommodations and attractions abound in this area of southwestern Ohio. Please “make a weekend of it” with family and friends while attending this event! Lebanon is appx. 15min from King’s Island\, one of the premier amusement parks in the nation. DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Basic Rifle or similar class. \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as a Rimfire Known Distance clinic. Any safe\, SCOPED semi-automatic\, bolt or lever gun chambered in .22LR can be used. (Ruger 10/22\, Marlin 795\, Henry Golden Boy\, Savage Rascal\, etc.). Scopes should be 3-9×40 or larger. Fixed power scopes are fine. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 200 rounds\, ideally the same type. DESCRIPTION:Carbine Overview\nTwo separate events in one weekend! Choose Carbine 1 on Saturday OR Carbine 2 on Sunday. Do BOTH clinics at a discounted rate! \nPrerequisites: Basic Rifle or similar class for Carbine 1. Basic Rifle AND Basic Pistol\, Carbine 1\, etc.\, for Carbine 2. \nFirearm Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. Any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (AK-47\, SKS\, Mini-14\, M1A1\, etc.). For Sunday’s Carbine 2 clinic\, a safe\, modern semi-automatic pistol (Glock\, Smith & Wesson M&P\, etc.) is also required. \nShooters should have a sling on their carbine (a “tactical” one point or two point sling works well) and an outside the waistband holster for their handgun. Magazines & ammunition should be carried in pouches or pockets. Kit up! Arlington\, at the time\, was known as Menotomy and more colonial militiamen were killed at Monotomy than any other place that day. \nBritish Redcoats were retreating back to Boston after being trounced at Concord’s North Bridge and Merriam’s Corner when they encountered heavy resistance along the road. DESCRIPTION:Rimfire Known Distance / Centerfire Unknown Distance Clinic Overview\nThis 2-day clinic is designed to familiarize attendees with the basics of shooting known distance (“KD”) and to introduce the concepts of trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics\, and field shooting. On the second day\, we will put all this knowledge to work shooting targets at unknown distance (“UKD”). This will be best achieved with scoped rifles although open sights are acceptable. \n\nDay 1—Rimfire Known Distance\, shot with .22LR rimfire rifles (Ruger 10/22\, Marlin 795\, etc.) at shorter distances to save money and time (please only bring .22LR to ease our job in keeping track of cartridge ballistics)\nDay 2—Centerfire Unknown Distance\, shot with centerfire rifles (AR\, AK\, bolt guns\, etc.) at ranges up to 750 yards\n\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Rifle 125 or Rifle 223 (Carbine)\, or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, you will be frustrated at Rifle 262. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed. . \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 150 rounds of .22LR (or other rimfire ammunition) and 60 rounds of centerfire (no steel core/AP/etc.). \nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but cannot source ammunition please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need two rifles for this event: \n\nDay 1—a safe rifle chambered in .22LR. On the first day\, we will be firing at reduced distances of 25-100 yards which effectively simulate the challenges of obtaining hits with a centerfire rifle at 100-400 yards. Single-shot\, bolt-action\, lever-action\, semi-auto\, etc.\, are all acceptable. As long as it’s a safe rifle chambered in .22LR you’re good to go!\nDay 2—a safe rifle chambered in your choice of centerfire calibers. ARs\, AKs\, bolt guns\, etc.\, are all plenty good for what we’ll be doing. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle — and themselves. \nField Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges out to 750 yards. This class is named for the “MK262” ammunition used by designated marksmen\, but you can be successful at landing hits with ball ammunition and a standard rifle. \nStudents will learn: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculation\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nScanning and data collection\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances and how to fill out a range card\nStudents will leave with the knowledge and ability to effectively shoot out to 750 yards and beyond!\n\n \n“Shots that Changed the History of the World”\nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the weekend’s instructional events.
