SUMMARY:Marty Brown Memorial Open Defensive Rifle/Shotgun/Pistol — One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Marty Brown Memorial Open Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Open™ event honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017. You can read more about Marty as well as Ovar’coming Together on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \n50% of ticket revenue (after deduction of range fees and lunch costs) will be donated to Ovar’coming Together to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. If you would like to make an additional donation\, please visit the Donation page on the Ovar’coming Together website. \nSwag Bags\, Give Aways\, Prizes\, Auctions\nWe are just beginning our solicitation for products that will be available as part of swag bags\, give aways\, prizes and silent auction. Details will be posted to the 2026 Marty Brown Memorial Open™ Defensive Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun Swag Bags\, Give Aways\, Prizes\, Auctions page as they are finalized. \nSign up for our email newsletter using the form in the website footer to be notified of items as we receive them. \nEvent Overview\nThis event is moderately physically demanding. We will be on our feet much of the day\, moving between various positions on the range. We will be shooting from different positions throughout the day. The event will be setup as a two hot range event with groups rotating between stations. \nPrerequisites: Basic Defensive Rifle is recommended. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 300 rounds rifle ammunition\, 200 rounds of pistol ammunition and 50rounds birdshot\, 10 rounds 00 Buck\, 10 slugs. \nGeneral Required Equipment: You should plan to bring the following to the event: \n\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nGeneral Optional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nmagazine dump pouch\ncase for your rifle\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nRifle Requirements: the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic rifle/carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Rifle Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Basic Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (4) magazines for your rifle/carbine\ntwo (2) mag pouches to hold your spare rifle magazines (chest rig or gun belt)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your rifle/carbine for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. The following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\na medium-frame or large-frame pistol (e.g.\, Glock 19/Glock 17 or similar)\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\nleave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\n\nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Pistol Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; your holster should have sufficient retention to keep your firearm secure if you are rolling around on the ground.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\ntwo (2) mag pouches to hold your spare pistol magazines\n\nShotgun Requirements: semi-automatic or pump-action. If you have any questions concerning the suitability of your shotgun for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nSkills Contests: several skills contests will be run at this event: \n\nSand Dummy Drag\n\ndrag a 150 lb sand dummy approximately 200 yards during which you will be required to stop and perform buddy aid\ncomplete sand dummy drag\, drop rucksack\nengage paper targets with a pistol from various positions/angles\nengage 10 steel targets with a rifle and 10 rounds (1 point per hit)\nscoring via hits and overall elapsed time\n\n\nPistol Pick Up\n\nfrom a table of 5 different pistols\, pick up each and fire two rounds on paper targets (one sighter plus one additional shot)\nscoring via closest to the bullseye on all five targets\n\n\nBattlefield Pick Up\n\npick up a random rifle from a table\nengage steel targets with two rounds\nscoring via combined hit and overall elapsed time\n\n\nAdditional “surprise” skills contests\n\nEntries into the Skills Contests will be available for purchase at the event; see the 2026 Marty Brown Memorial Open™ Defensive Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun Swag Bags\, Give Aways\, Prizes\, Auctions page for prize list. \nAdditional Event Information\nSpectators are welcome but will be asked to remain a safe distance from the firing line (ear protection is required for all spectators; eye protection is optional). \nYour ticket price includes range fees and lunch. \nEvent Sponsors\n\n\n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n XShear\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Radian Weapons\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Meprolight\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Wilson Combat\n	\n\n	\n \n \n\n Armory 52\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Timber Creek Outdoors\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Rock River Arms\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Mantis\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n CVA\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Safariland\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Criterion Barrels\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n CMC Triggers\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n EOTECH\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n OLFA Works\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n LWRC International\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Crossbreed Holsters\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n TriggerTech\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Vortex Optics\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Geissele\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Faxon Firearms\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Streamlight\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Galco Holsters\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n CRKT\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Swampfox Optics\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Kitanica\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n Tasmanian Tiger\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n LOK Grips

From there\, the course focuses on the mechanics of defensive pistol shooting.  Lecture topics include: “Why do we do this?”\, the physiological and psychological aspects of dynamic critical incidents for both the “good guy” and the “bad guy”\, firearms and ancillary equipment for defensive use among other topics. Range exercises build on each successive evolution ending the day with a simple drill that rehearses the physical and mental issues dealt with during the class. \nAt the end of the course\, you will have learned a simple drill that will help you internalize the basics of defensive pistol craft. \nAdditional Event Information\nMinors (under 18 years old) must be mature enough to follow the instruction and perform the drills as well as have a parent or legal guardian present during the event. \nAdditional Questions?\nJohn Viray is available at the email address below to answer questions both before and after the course.

SUMMARY:Advanced Defensive Rifle - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Defensive Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Revere’s Riders Intermediate Defensive Rifle or similar. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 500 rifle rounds/day; 250 pistol rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Rifle Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Basic Defensive Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (8) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\ntwo (2) mag pouches to hold your spare rifle magazines (chest rig or gun belt)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\n\nPistol Requirements: A safe\, modern semi-automatic pistol (Glock\, Smith & Wesson M&P\, etc.) is also required. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\na medium-frame or large-frame pistol (e.g.\, Glock 19/Glock 17 or similar)\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\nleave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Pistol Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side OWB holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; your holster should have sufficient retention to keep your firearm secure if you are rolling around on the ground.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\ntwo (2) mag pouches to hold your spare pistol magazines\n\nRequired Equipment: \n\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n50 lbs rucksack or backpack\n\nOptional Equipment: \n\nmagazine dump pouch\ncase for your rifle\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we will be shooting and moving)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nAdvanced Defensive Rifle Overview: This class is physically demanding. We will be on our feet much of the day\, moving between various positions on the range. We will be shooting from different positions throughout the day. In addition you will be required to carry weight between stations and fire carrying weight. \nYou need to hydrate several days prior to the event and arrive “sorted out” ready to train! \nThe training will be fast pasted safety is paramount you will need to be in the correct “mindset” for training. \nThis is the cumulative class for Defensive Rifle; you will put all of your skills to the test. We will present a subject\, conduct practice\, and execute a series of tasks in preparation for the qualifying events. \nThe qualifying events will not be given to you until we start. Bring your A game!!!! \n\nsome will be scored shooting events\nsome will be physical shooting events\nsome I might invent on the spot!\n\nThe goal is to push yourself safely to the limits of your ability! \nWin a Signed Copy of “Lone Survivor”\nRevere’s Riders includes relevant American history\, often from the Revolutionary War period\, as an added element to many of our firearms training events. For Advanced Defensive Rifle\, we will be giving away a SIGNED copy of Marcus Luttrell’s “Lone Survivor“. The book was later made into a film by the same name. \nMarcus is the recipient of the Navy Cross in recognition of his heroism in Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005. Marcus was the only survivor of SEAL Team 10’s engagement with a superior force in the remote Afghan mountains. Marcus nearly died from injuries sustained during the battle but was found and nursed back to health by Pashtun villagers in the area. His Seal Team 10 teammates were all killed during the fighting. \nMarcus returned home and founded the Lone Survivor Foundation in 2010 to “restore\, empower\, and renew hope for our wounded warriors and their families through health\, wellness\, and therapeutic support.” He later founded Team Never Quit whose mission “embodies the heart of a warrior\, men and women in all walks of life who have faced incredible hardship but have chosen not only to survive\, but to learn from the experience and make themselves and those around them stronger for it. Our commitment is to honor those who have fallen\, stand with those who have survived\, and share their stories that we might inspire others to Never Quit.”

SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Rifle/Intermediate Defensive Rifle - One Day/Two Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:This will be a back-to-back running of our Basic Defensive Rifle and Intermediate Defensive Rifle courses. Participants may choose to take one or both courses as their skills\, background\, and interests dictate. Please note the prerequisites for these courses as these courses are not appropriate for those new to firearms. \nNote that the overview for Basic Defensive Rifle appears first followed by the overview for Intermediate Defensive Rifle. \nBasic Defensive Rifle Overview\nSafety: As with all classes safety is non negotiable; we practice absolute muzzle discipline. This means you are aware of your muzzle at all times\, never “sweeping” anyone’s body parts. Serious breaches of safety may result in your being asked to leave the range with no refund of your ticket purchase.\nPrerequisites: Revere’s Riders Basic Rifle or similar class is strongly suggested. \nIf you have not attended Basic Rifle\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. You should be able to consistently hit a 3×5 index card at 15 yards while standing. You should be familiar with basic operation of your carbine. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at this class and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Basic Rifle clinic. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 400 rounds \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Basic Defensive Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (4) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\nmag pouches to hold your rifle magazines (chest rig or gun belt)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nBasic Defensive Rifle Overview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform. All firing in this course will be within 200 yards with a focus on the close quarters environment from contact to 50 yards. You will get a workout with all the skills needed to run the carbine from 7-100 yards. At some venues we may work out to the battlesight zero of your carbine (200-300 yards) but the focus is on short range marksmanship. Topics will include the following: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nCarbine parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting Fundamentals\n\nFiring Stance: Standing\nFive steps to firing each shot\nZero rifles as required\n\n\nSituational Awareness and Scanning\nRapid Magazine Changes (Tactical Reloads)\nShort Range Marksmanship Techniques\n\nTailoring the five steps to firing each shot to the close quarters environment\nControlled Pairs\nRecoil Management\n\n\nClearing Malfunctions/Stoppages\n\nEmergency/Speed Reloads\nFailure to Fire\nFailure to Eject\nDouble Feed\n\n\nSpecial Subjects (most one-day clinics will cover only a few of these — two day clinics will cover most or all)\n\nZeroing Carbines & Rifles\nCarbine Trajectory and Zero Issues\nBarricades\nMovement\nKneeling Position\nProne Position\nUse of the sling to support shooting stability\nNatural Point of Aim\nFiring from retention\nField Stripping & Cleaning the AR-15\n\n\nClassic WW2 Carbine Qualifier\nRevere’s Riders Carbine Skills Test\n\nIntermediate Defensive Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Revere’s Riders Basic Defensive Rifle and Basic Pistol or similar classes are strongly suggested. \nIf you have not attended Basic Defensive Rifle\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. We will be on our feet much of the day\, moving between various positions on the range. We will be shooting from different positions throughout the day. \nPlease contact the event director if you intend to bring a different type of firearm other than an AR-15; we can probably accommodate learning on your preferred platform but want to ensure you will not be frustrated. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled Victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nSome events may have special instructions. Be sure to include any full distance opportunities for two-day events here. \nAdditional Range Information\nAny additional range information not contained in the “venue” section…

SUMMARY:Basic Rifle - Two Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Basic Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in your preferred caliber. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nCenterfire rifles are welcome at this event; feel free to bring your rimfire to save on ammunition costs\, though. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Basic Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nsling for your rifle (a US GI sling is strongly preferred as our instruction will be specific to this sling; loaner slings are typically available at the event)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. At some facilities\, it may be possible to move out to longer distances\, but a rimfire rifle should be just fine for all activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nshooting mat\, carpet remnant or similar\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nOverview: This is our signature offering\, based on traditional American riflecraft that teaches “Hits Count!” It is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels. This course lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a variety of practical field positions. Basic Rifle includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nRifle parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nNatural Point of Aim\nShooting from the prone\, standing and sitting/kneeling positions to include use of the sling\nIntroduction to Sight Adjustments and basic calculation of minutes of angle\n25 Yard “Morgan’s 13” Classifier\n25 Yard Rifle Qualifier\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges\nIntroduction to Field Shooting\, to include basic ballistics and live firing to longer distances\nShooting out to 100 yards as time permits\n\nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nHear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Range Information\nCamping is available on-site at no charge. SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Pistol - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Basic Pistol or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na rimfire pistol can be used for practice during some of the drills with a transition to your centerfire pistol to complete the drill (see the section on Rimfire Pistols below)\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \n\n\n\n\nRimfire Pistols: Due to the current cost and lack of availability of centerfire ammunition\, rimfire pistols will be allowed at this event subject to the following: \n\nsuitable centerfire/rimfire pistol combinations\, in order of preference\, are:\n\npairs of pistols such as the Glock 19 and Glock 44 that are nearly identical in size and function\npistols that are not as similar as the Glock 19/Glock 44 but still properly fit the same holster\nyour concealed carry centerfire pistol along with a .22LR conversion kit that is easy enough to swap in/out in a short period of time (<1 minute) without tools (e.g.\, a Glock 19 and the Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kit)\nseparate centerfire and rimfire pistols along with appropriate holsters for both (in a pinch\, you will be able to get by without a proper holster for your rimfire pistol)\n\n\nbring 250 rounds of quality rimfire ammunition (be picky about your rimfire ammunition as the cheap stuff is usually not very reliable; you can’t go wrong with CCI Mini-Mag\, Fiocchi\, or Federal)\nbring THREE (or more) magazines for your rimfire pistol (this is in addition to the THREE or more magazines for your centerfire pistol)\nappropriate holsters for both pistols (assuming your rimfire pistol does not properly fit your centerfire pistol holster)\n\nIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THIS COURSE WITH ONLY A RIMFIRE PISTOL! \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Basic Defensive Pistol begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol.

SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Rifle - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Basic Rifle or similar class. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at carbine class and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Basic Rifle clinic. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 400 rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Basic Defensive Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (4) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform. Topics will include the following: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nCarbine parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting Fundamentals\n\nFiring Stance: Standing\nFive steps to firing each shot\nZero rifles as required\n\n\nSituational Awareness and Scanning\nRapid Magazine Changes (Tactical Reloads)\nShort Range Marksmanship Techniques\n\nTailoring the five steps to firing each shot to the close quarters environment\nControlled Pairs\nRecoil Management\n\n\nClearing Malfunctions/Stoppages\n\nEmergency/Speed Reloads\nFailure to Fire\nFailure to Eject\nDouble Feed\n\n\nSpecial Subjects (most one-day clinics will cover only a few of these — two day clinics will cover most or all)\n\nZeroing Carbines & Rifles\nCarbine Trajectory and Zero Issues\nBarricades\nMovement\nKneeling Position\nProne Position\nUse of the sling to support shooting stability\nNatural Point of Aim\nFiring from retention\nField Stripping & Cleaning the AR-15\n\n\nClassic WW2 Carbine Qualifier\nRevere’s Riders Carbine Skills Test\n\nThis class is moderately physically demanding.

SUMMARY:Defensive Pistol - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Defensive Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Intro to Defensive Pistol or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Intro to Defensive Pistol begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol.

Arlington\, at the time\, was known as Menotomy and more colonial militiamen were killed at Monotomy than any other place that day. \nBritish Redcoats were retreating back to Boston after being trounced at Concord’s North Bridge and Merriam’s Corner when they encountered heavy resistance along the road. They’d sent out flanking parties to clear the route and one of those parties captured Russell and several other militiamen in the open. \nHear what happened next as this exciting tale is woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events! \n \nAdditional Information: \nQuestions\, comments\, concerns\, etc.\, please contact the Event Director below. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Pistol 145 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Pistol 145 begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. \nAdditional Questions?\nJohn is available at the email address below to answer questions both before and after the course.

SUMMARY:Rifle 223 (Carbine) – One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Rifle 223 (Carbine) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Rifle 125 or similar class. \nIf you have not attended Rifle 125\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. You should be able to consistently hit a 3×5 index card at 15 yards while standing. You should be familiar with basic operation of your carbine. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at carbine class and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Rifle 125 clinic. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 300 rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. While this course is named for the common round fired by the AR-15 (“.223 Remington”) any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Rifle 223 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (4) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform.

SUMMARY:Pistol 145 (Intro to Defensive Pistol) - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Pistol 145 Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Pistol 100 or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 10 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nAdditional Questions?\nJohn is available at the email address below to answer questions both before and after the course.

SUMMARY:Rimfire-Only Rifle 262 - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Save money and learn to shoot at distance with the pea shooter! This is a RIMFIRE-ONLY event; we will only allow rifles chambered in .22LR. Please leave your centerfire rifle at home. \nRimfire-Only Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) Overview\nThis clinic is designed to familiarize attendees with the basics of shooting known distance (“KD”) and to introduce the concepts of trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics and field shooting. This will be best achieved with a scoped rifle although open sights are acceptable. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — Rifle 125 or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, you will be frustrated at Rifle 262. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed. Rifle 223 (Carbine) is not required. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 200 rounds\, ideally the same type. \nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but cannot source ammunition please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR (centerfire rifles will not be allowed). This event will be fired at reduced distances of 25-100 yards which effectively simulate the challenges of obtaining hits with a centerfire rifle at 100-400 yards. Single-shot\, bolt-action\, lever-action\, semi-auto\, etc.\, are all acceptable. As long as it’s a safe rifle chambered in .22LR you’re good to go! \nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but do not have a suitable rifle\, please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nScope Requirements: This event is designed for a scoped .22LR rifle though you may attend with other sights. Ideally\, a click-adjustable scope (either around 4× fixed magnification or 2-7×\, 3-9×\, etc. variable magnification will be ideal). We will be making sight adjustments throughout the day so having a click-adjustable scope will enhance your experience. \nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but do not have a good scope\, please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 262 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nA sturdy\, field-expedient rest (bipod\, sandbag\, pack\, bedroll\, etc.; USGI slings are acceptable but not ideal)\nNotebook and pencil/pen\nCalculator (you probably have one on your cell phone)\nTape Measure (the fabric or soft plastic ones you find in the craft section are perfect\, 25ft construction type will do)\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nLoaner Firearms and Scopes: loaner firearms and scopes suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director prior to the event if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nSummary: This Rimfire-Only Rifle 262 course picks up where the introductory Rifle 125 clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship\, learn to conceptualize and implement the fundamentals of field rifle marksmanship. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle — and themselves. \nField Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges out to 600 yards\, with a focus on the “sharpshooter’s quarter-mile:” 100-400 yards. This class is named for the “MK262” ammunition used by designated marksmen\, but you can be successful at landing hits with ball ammunition and a standard rifle. In this “rimfire-only” version of Rifle 262\, we will be simulating shooting with a centerfire rifle out to 100-400 yards by using a rimfire rifle at ranges of 25-100 yards. \nStudents will learn: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculation\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection for shooting to known distances\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will leave with the knowledge and ability to effectively shoot a .22LR to 250 yards!\n\n \n“Shots that Changed the History of the World”\nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s instructional events. Hear the stories of our Colonial Forefathers and the pivotal feats of marksmanship they made during the Revolutionary War that changed the course of world history. \nListen as our volunteers make this story come alive while simultaneously connecting the fundamentals we learn during the clinic. \nAdditional Information:\nPlease contact the Event Director with any questions. We’ll see you out on the line!
