Want to Shoot a .50 BMG? Join us at the Marty Brown Memorial Invitational

by / / Uncategorized

We have arranged for a Barrett M82A1 in .50 BMG to be at the upcoming 9th Annual Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ at Camp Atterbury, IN the weekend of Nov. 1-2. Event attendees and any interested guests will have the opportunity to fire rounds through the M82A1 for $10/round (note that .50 BMG ammo starts at around $4/round). All proceeds will go towards supporting our ovarian cancer fundraising.

The M82A1 was developed in the early 1980s and was first deployed by the Swedish Army in 1989. The US Marines began using the M82A1 in 1990 and the rifle first saw service in the Desert Storm and Desert Shield campaigns in Kuwait and Iraq (the military designation for the M82A1 is M107). The US Army and US Air Force deployed the rifle shortly thereafter. The .50 BMG cartridge fires a 600+ grain projectile at velocities of around 2,900 ft/sec or higher. John Moses Browning developed the .50 BMG (BMG stands for “Browning Machine Gun”) in 1921 and, as it’s name implies, the cartridge was first utilized in the M2 Browning heavy machine gun.

Join us at the upcoming 9th Annual Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ to be held at the long-distance ranges on the military side of Camp Atterbury, IN (near Edinburgh, IN and just south of Indianapolis, IN) on the weekend of Nov. 1-2, 2025. These are the same ranges used for the NRA National Matches. Dozens of other give-aways, skills contest prizes, and silent auction items will be given away/awarded at the event; a complete list can be found on the 2025 Marty Brown Memorial Invitational Swag Bags, Give Aways, Prizes, Auctions page of the Revere’s Riders website.
